Our small church at the corner of Bloomfield and 7th streets is unique in its simple and reverent worship style. We do our best to faithfully teach the truth of the Holy Word of God as taught by the Lord Jesus Christ and the Apostles. We boldly preach the complete Word of God in the fear of the Lord understanding the great responsibility that has been given to us in God's plan of salvation for mankind.

You won't find clever church building gimmicks or rocking entertainment when you visit but you will find sincere, loving, biblical worship that is focused on the Head of the Church the Lord Jesus Christ.

The preaching and ministry are provided through the spiritual gifts of individual Christians given by the Holy Spirit for the needs of the Body of Christ. Our church is a place where you can discover your spiritual gifts and exercise your calling in the service of the Lord and the Kingdom of God.  Our worship is not charismatic, pentecostal, or “prosperity gospel” in nature as we trust that the sign gifts of the early church were temporary being used by God to sanction and establish His church and identify His Apostles.  The Holy Spirit does work today in other amazing ways in the plan of salvation and the gifting of His people for the edification of the saints and for the building up of the Body of Christ.

We believe strongly in the power of expositional, in-depth, verse by verse preaching so we can be edified in the knowledge of the Most High and become equipped for ministry and the communication of the Gospel to a lost world. We are also blessed to have many gifted guest preachers of the Word visit us regularly. You can listen to some of our preaching on the Sermon page.

We do our best to honor Jesus Christ in every service we hold. That's really what worship is all about. True worship should be an outflowing of our love and appreciation for our God through words (spoken and unspoken), songs and hymns of praise and the sacrifice of ourselves to His will and ways.

We love Him because He loved us first. Grace is unmerited favor towards us that we do not deserve. God seeks to pour out His Grace on those who come to Him for forgiveness through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our God (the God of the Holy Christian Bible) is altogether Holy, Awesome, Loving and Merciful. He wants the name of His Dear Son to be lifted up and glorified because only He is worthy having accomplished our redemption and so much more. In His mercy, God desires all humanity to be saved.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

The Hoboken Gospel Chapel is a place where a lost man, woman or child whose sin has separated them from God can hear the way to salvation and eternal life. It's also a place where those who have drifted from the faith and their Lord can find the way back home and begin to fulfill their purpose once more.

We hope and pray to meet you very soon.  Pray always that that the Lord’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Our history: The church building at 641 Bloomfield Street in Hoboken, NJ once housed The First United Presbyterian church which was built in about 1860, four years after it was first organized. The building was purchased by the Hoboken Gospel Chapel which took possession in 1941.  The congregation was primarily of Italian descent until recent times.

In the days of significant immigration of Italians to North America, Gospel work in Italian was carried on in many places. Many of the Italian immigrates were in happy fellowship in English-speaking assemblies.  Although small Italian assemblies in the U.S. existed before 1900, the real expansion of the Italian work in the United States and Canada began in about 1918. The work among Italians in the United States seems to have started in 1893 in Hoboken, NJ, when a few Italian immigrants met for the first time to remember the Lord in the Breaking of Bread and to preach the Gospel.

Today we are a multi-cultural, social and economically diverse flock and conduct all worship meetings in the English language.
